In the controlled environment of a factory, powder coating is sufficient. But once your racks hit the jobsite or the outdoor storage yard, the rules change. Moisture trapped between the glass transport rack and the ground, combined with the inevitable scratches from forklifts, creates the perfect breeding ground for rust.
For high-end architectural glass or expensive stone slabs, a rusty rack isn't just an aesthetic issue—it's a financial liability. Rust runoff can stain porous stone and etch glass coatings (especially Low-E layers), turning a premium product into scrap. Our Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) finish provides a metallurgical bond of zinc that acts as a sacrificial anode. Even if the steel is scratched down to the bare metal during rough handling, the surrounding zinc corrodes first, protecting the structural integrity of the Q235 steel for 10-20 years.

Outdoor storage brings another variable: Wind. A standard A-frame takes up too much yard space, but a poorly designed L-rack can tip over in a gust if not properly counterbalanced.
Our engineering team calculates the geometry to prevent this. The rack features a precise 90-degree vertical support with a 3-5 degree back-tilt. This allows gravity to naturally secure the glass sheets against the frame without excessive strapping tension that could cause breakage. The base is extended and reinforced to lower the center of gravity, ensuring that even when fully loaded with heavy tempered glass or granite slabs, the rack remains planted during storms or uneven jobsite terrain.

In outdoor heat, standard glues melt. We see it all the time: cheap racks where the rubber pads have peeled off after one summer, leaving bare steel exposed. When you place a 500 lb glass sheet onto that bare steel, edge chipping is guaranteed.
