The Challenge: Replicating a Proven, High-Performance Folding Rack

A leading North American motorcycle distributor required a collapsible metal motorcycle pallet for storage and transport and provided a highly detailed design drawing. Their core needs were clear and specific:

• Precise Replication: The function, dimensions, and folding mechanism of the new rack had to strictly adhere to their existing and proven design.
• Heavy-Duty Load Capacity: Each rack needed to meet a 2-ton load requirement and be safely stackable when fully loaded.
• Space Efficiency: The folding mechanism was key; it had to collapse the rack to a minimal height when empty to optimize return logistics and warehouse storage efficiency.
• Compatibility: The new racks had to be stack-compatible with the client's existing older-model stillages.

1. A Robust Frame for Heavy Loads

To meet the 2-ton load requirement, we employed heavy-duty materials and a reinforced design.

• Large-Scale Design: The rack's external dimensions of 2300×2470×1270mm provide ample space for storing large items like motorcycles.
• Sturdy Materials: The main structural components, such as the base frame and posts, are made from thick-walled rectangular tubes (e.g., 60x3mm) to ensure high strength and stability under a 2-ton load. The entire rack's self-weight of 300 kg is a direct indicator of its robustness.

2. The Smart Folding Mechanism

We perfectly replicated the "lift and fold inward" mechanism from the drawings.

• How it Works: Operators can lift the 1270mm high side frames slightly to disengage them from locating pins, then fold them inward to lay flat on the base.
• Efficient Space Savings: This design allows the rack's folded height to be just 355mm, achieving a very high compression ratio.

3. High-Density Empty Stacking and Transport

The greatest benefit of the collapsible design is realized in logistics efficiency.

• Compact Storage: Eight folded empty racks can be safely stacked together, with a total height of only 2560mm.
• Optimized Transport: A single 40-foot high-cube container can accommodate 32 sets of folded racks, drastically reducing the per-unit cost of return transportation.
