Come impedire a una moto di rotolare o ribaltarsi su una rastrelliera di spedizione

Mtrack motorcycle shipping pallet live demonstration still 3

If a motorcycle is simply placed on a flat pallet, the real transport problem has not been solved. Braking, forklift acceleration, road vibrations and an uneven loading surface can cause the wheels to move forward. A tall motorcycle can therefore become difficult to control, and an improvised anchoring system can put pressure on painted parts or the rim.

Mtrack addresses the question—"Will the motorcycle roll or tip over?"—as a three-step loading sequence: locate and lock the front wheel, connect the straps to the U-hooks on both sides, and push the motorcycle up the ramp into its defined position. This combination supports controlled handling, but it is not a universal guarantee against movement. The locking mechanism, strap specifications and wheel contact geometry must be verified against the motorcycle's weight and wheel diameter.

Start with the front wheel: position it, then lock it

The first restraint system is the front wheel positioning and locking device. The motorcycle is pushed into the pallet up the ramp until the front wheel reaches the intended position. The operator then turns the handwheel to tighten the lock; turning it back releases the wheel during unloading. This is different from relying on the side stand or hoping that a flat surface will keep the motorcycle in place.

The ramp makes the insertion movement repeatable, while the wheel seat, front positioning structure and locking mechanism are selected as a design combination. A narrow wheel, a wide wheel, a long wheelbase or a tall motorcycle can change the required position and clearances. For this reason, the handwheel mechanism must be adjusted according to the vehicle design or confirmed measurements, and it must not be assumed to suit every motorcycle. The operator must also check that the wheel is correctly positioned before adding the straps.

Use both side U-hooks for the tie-down straps

The front lock controls the wheel position; it does not replace the tie-down straps. Mtrack can use U-hooks for straps on the left and right sides, so that the restraint is connected to the pallet frame rather than improvised around a vulnerable component. In the documented motorcycle club reference, the hooks are part of the loading discussion. A separate motorcycle logistics project also shows the practical role of straps in keeping the palletized motorcycle controlled during handling.

Use both sides as a balanced restraint path and select strap width, working load, length and attachment angle based on the motorcycle's weight and handling method. The final anchoring specification is confirmed for the project. Do not route a strap over a brake line, painted panel, sharp edge or wheel position that could cause rim damage. If the motorcycle is unusually tall, wide, heavy or fitted with non-standard tires, the hook position and locking clearance must be verified before production.

Push up the ramp, then check before lifting

The loading order matters: align the motorcycle with the ramp, push it into the front wheel positioning area, tighten the handwheel, secure the left and right straps, and inspect the positioning of each restraint system. Only then can the unit be moved with the forklift or placed for stacking. This workflow turns a loose motorcycle into a manageable logistics unit for the forklift and helps operators repeat the same check in the factory, warehouse, trailer or container.

The Mtrack frame can be configured for floor storage, rack placement, trailer transfer or container loading. Reference working loads include 250, 350 and 500 kg per pallet, but these are design values and not a single universal Mtrack rating. Fork openings, stacking levels, uprights, pallet dimensions and vehicle footprint must be verified together. A restraint system suitable for one motorcycle program must not be automatically transferred to another.

Where this three-part restraint method fits in

  • Factory shipping: position, lock and strap complete motorcycles before forklift movement to a trailer or shipping container.
  • Storage at dealerships and distribution centers: use the defined wheel position and side hooks instead of leaving motorcycles loose on the floor.
  • Transport for racing, touring and events: verify mixed vehicle dimensions and confirm the restraint path for each model before loading.
  • Stacking programs: combine wheel restraint with the specified uprights and stacking height; never infer stacking suitability from the pallet footprint alone.

Domande frequenti

Will the motorcycle be completely immobile?

No. The front wheel lock, the two side U-hooks, the straps and the loading sequence reduce movement if properly designed and used, but Mtrack is not advertised as a zero-movement system for every model. Clamping force, strap quality, hook position, wheel diameter, motorcycle weight and transport conditions must be confirmed for the project.

Can the same rack carry any motorcycle?

No. Mtrack is configurable, not universal. Before requesting a quote, provide motorcycle length, width, height, weight, wheel and tire dimensions, handling direction, forklift requirements, trailer or container limits, stacking criteria, and any issues related to clearance for wheels and bodywork. At that point, the selected front clamp and strap arrangement can be adapted to the actual footprint of the vehicle.
