Compact Glass Racks: Double Storage Space

Your floor space is costing you money. Traditional A-frames dominate your warehouse footprint, while wooden crates create disposal nightmares and safety hazards for your glazing teams. You need a solution that secures high-value IGUs and tempered glass during transport, yet vanishes when empty. Maximize your truck density and reclaim your shop floor.

The Logistics Paradox: Protection vs. Space

In the glass fabrication and distribution industry, specifically for wholesalers dealing with wholesale tempered glass and Insulated Glass Units (IGUs), the biggest profit killer isn't always the material cost—it's the logistics of air.

Sending glass to a job site or a window manufacturer is straightforward. Getting the racks back is where the margin bleeds. Standard A-frames are rigid; they take up the same space empty as they do full. Our L-Shape Glass Holding Rack (Grack) changes this equation through smart geometry.

Nesting: The Logic of "Returnable" Logistics

The "L" design isn't just for stability; it's for Nesting. Unlike A-frames that clutter your receiving dock, our L-racks are designed to stack like shopping carts.

Eliminating "Metal-on-Glass" Contact

We know the sound of a "shell" or a "run" starting from a chipped edge. It's the sound of lost profit. Generic racks often use glue to attach rubber pads. In a hot warehouse in California or Texas, that glue fails, the rubber slides, and your high-value Low-E glass touches raw steel.

Our solution is the Steel-Core Rubber Profile.

Feature Benefit for Glass Fabricators
Mechanically Fixed Screwed in with self-tapping screws. The rubber never falls off, even under the weight of 3,000 lbs of glass.
Steel Core Insert Prevents the sharp glass edge from slicing through the rubber and contacting the rack frame.
EPDM Material Resistant to ozone and UV. No marking or staining on delicate soft-coat Low-E layers.

Engineered for the 3-Ton Reality

Whether you are handling Jumbo size sheets or bundles of heavy laminated glass, structural rigidity is non-negotiable. A flexing rack causes stress points on the glass, leading to spontaneous breakage during transport.

Our Heavy Duty Glass Rack is built from Q235 (ASTM A36 equivalent) structural steel. We use Full Seam Welding throughout—no spot welds.

Handling Versatility: Factory to Jobsite

A rack must be compatible with every tool in your logistics chain. From the overhead crane at the float glass line to the rough-terrain forklift at the construction site.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can these racks handle 1/4 inch tempered glass without bowing?

Absolutely. The rack includes a solid backboard and base support. However, for thinner glass (like 1/4" or 3/16"), we recommend using a retaining bar or strap to ensure the sheets remain tight against the rubber profiles to prevent "chatter" during transport.

2. What is the maximum load capacity for the standard L-rack?

Our standard 1600mm model is rated for 1,500 kg (approx. 3,300 lbs). We also manufacture heavy-duty versions for stone or jumbo glass that are rated up to 4,000 kg (8,800 lbs). Always check the specific data plate on your rack.

3. Do you offer hot-dip galvanizing for outdoor storage?

Yes. While our standard finish is a durable electrostatic powder coating (RAL 5010), for customers in high-humidity areas or for racks stored permanently outdoors (like stone yards), we recommend Hot-Dip Galvanizing for 10+ years of rust protection.

4. Will the L-shape tip over if I load heavy IGUs on it?

No. The L-rack is designed with a specific center-of-gravity calculation. It includes counter-balance weights on the rear structure to prevent forward tipping during loading, and the slight backward tilt ensures stability during transport.

5. How many empty racks fit in a standard 53' truck?

Due to the nesting design, you can fit significantly more L-racks than A-frames. Depending on the specific model height, you can typically fit 3 to 4 times the quantity of nested empty L-racks compared to rigid A-frames, drastically cutting your return freight bills.
