Stbox Half-Drop Gate Wire Mesh Container for WIP Picking

A wire mesh container that lets operators pick from the front

When parts are stored in a fully closed box, the operator may have to unload the upper material before reaching what is needed at the bottom. Stbox changes that WIP routine: open the half-drop gate, reach the accessible face, and remove only the required parts.

For the 13967 requirement, the opening is located on the 800 mm side. The final drawing must confirm the opening direction and the effective half-open height before production. This is a project-controlled detail, not a universal dimension claim for every Stbox configuration.

  • Half-drop gate: practical front access for manual loading and selective picking.
  • Spiral spring hinge: the image-indexed structure uses a continuously wound helical hinge at the mesh-panel connection.
  • WIP buffer: keep a container in line-side storage while taking out a partial quantity instead of emptying the whole unit.
  • Industrial handling: the wire mesh container is designed around forklift and pallet-jack handling, subject to the final base drawing and handling review.

Half-drop gate

Use the lower access opening when operators need to take components from a WIP cache without completely unloading the cage.

Best for: partial picking
Confirm: opening direction and half-open height

Drop-gate loading face

The lowered gate creates a more direct path for manual loading and removal of parts at the container floor. Keep the operator aisle and gate travel area clear.

Best for: floor-level access
Check: part size, reach distance and aisle clearance

Liner or lid when exposure matters

Stbox is not a fully sealed container. Add a PP hollow-board liner when small or delicate parts need a barrier from the mesh; consider a matching lid and lockable cover when dust, falling items or access control is part of the brief.

Best for: parts protection or security
Confirm: liner coverage, lid and locking requirements

Shorten the path from buffer stock to the operator

01

Pick without a full unload

A visible front opening supports taking a partial quantity from the container. That directly addresses the “turn over the whole stack to find the bottom parts” problem.

02

Make WIP visible

The welded mesh lets the line-side operator and warehouse supervisor see the stored material more easily than through a closed wall, while the exact mesh suitability still depends on the part size.

03

Keep the unit movable

Forklift and pallet-jack handling are supported use cases in the product materials. Final fork access, load distribution and center of gravity must be checked against the selected base design.

04

Separate access from protection

Open picking is not the same as dustproof or theft-resistant storage. Use the liner, lid or lockable cover as a deliberate option rather than treating the basic cage as sealed.

Lock the door geometry before fabrication

1

Map the picking task

Tell us the part dimensions, removal frequency, operator reach and whether the cage stays at the line or returns to the warehouse.

2

Mark the 800 mm side

For opportunity 13967, place the opening on the specified 800 mm side and identify the required aisle-facing orientation.

3

Confirm the final drawing

Approve the door opening direction, half-open height, gate travel clearance, bottom access and hinge arrangement from the final engineering drawing.

4

Validate handling and protection

Confirm load definition, stacking rule, forklift or pallet-jack interface, surface treatment, liner, lid and locking options before the order is released.

Is a half-drop wire mesh container right for your picking route?

What makes the Stbox door different?

The selected half-drop gate folds down to expose a manual access face. The product image index also documents a continuously wound spiral spring/helical hinge at the mesh connection. The final opening direction and half-open height must be confirmed on the final drawing.

Why is the 800 mm side important for 13967?

13967 names the 800 mm side as the opening side. This affects aisle position, operator reach, line-side orientation and the direction in which the gate moves. It must be carried into the approval drawing rather than inferred from a generic product photo.

Does the gate eliminate all material handling?

No. It reduces the need to completely unload a container for a partial pick; it does not replace replenishment planning, safe reach limits or a defined material presentation method. Large, awkward or very deep loads still require a reach and handling review.

How does it compare with a fully closed steel box?

A closed box may better suit containment, dust control or access restriction, but it hides the load and can force more unloading during a bottom-part pick. Stbox prioritizes visibility and front access. Add a liner or lid when protection requirements outweigh open access.

Can every Stbox be treated as a standard load-rated cage?

No. Project records include different dimensions, load definitions and stacking limits. For 13967, the source records a 1000 kg dynamic-load requirement and recommends no more than four stack levels with no more than 500 kg in each upper cage; the applicable engineering confirmation must govern the order.

When is this configuration not the right choice?

Do not use the basic open mesh configuration when the goods require a sealed dust barrier, theft resistance or small-particle containment without adding the appropriate liner, lid or locking option. Do not release a design until the gate clearance, load case and handling equipment are confirmed.
