Lagerhandhabungs-Motorradgestell für Gabelhubwagen-Transport

Steel motorcycle pallet rack with two-tier stacking handled by forklift in an export yard

A forklift is only half the story. Many sites move loaded pallets with a hand pallet truck or an electric pallet truck, and these need something different from a forklift: ground clearance under the floor for the entry rollers and swivel casters, measured from the floor upward.

In the engineering review for 500 kg for this pallet family, the floor structure was raised by 25 mm and the resulting ground clearance under the frame was recorded at 95 mm. This gap allows a pallet truck to drive under a loaded motorcycle pallet instead of scraping the floor or lifting it off the stacking feet. It is a project data set for a specific structure, so the number you should tell your team is the one on your released drawing—but the principle remains: pallet truck entry is engineered into the floor, not left to chance.

If your handling mix includes both a forklift and a pallet truck, tell us both. A floor suitable for a 3,000 kg counterbalance forklift and a floor suitable for a pallet truck with small entry rollers are not automatically the same floor.

Four-way entry: the aisle usually decides

Two-way entry assumes the truck always approaches from one end of the pallet. That is fine when a rack faces a storage aisle. It is no longer fine when the same pallet must be loaded sideways into a trailer or when a container door is too narrow to align the truck at a right angle.

If the forks do not enter with clearance, the pallet or the interface is wrong — the solution is a drawing change, never a longer lead-in. Forcing the fork blades into a tight channel deforms base members and stresses welds in a direction they were not designed for, and the damage often shows up as a bent base rail long after the motorcycle has been delivered.

Operators should lift evenly, stop if a fork blade catches, and check base members, support posts, bolts and pins before every loaded movement. With stacked racks, confirm that the stacking feet sit properly on the lower posts before pulling the pallet truck out. Load capacity, fork channel size and number of stacking tiers are specified in the approved drawing for each project; this page does not publish a series load table, because a number taken out of context is the starting point for overloads.

Where this design does not fit

An open steel motorcycle pallet is not a closed shipping crate and not the solution for every fleet. If motorcycles must be transported protected from the weather for weeks, or if the site cannot guarantee that only trained operators handle the empty racks, the discussion about the interface is premature. It also does not fit if the aisle is too narrow to turn a loaded pallet at all, or if a mixed rental truck fleet changes weekly and no single interface can be guaranteed.

Within these limits, the base can be matched to your equipment: openings and center distances to suit your forks, a raised base for pallet truck entry, two-way or four-way entry depending on the loading direction, and stacking posts if the storage bay needs height instead of floor space. FAQ on motorcycle pallet handling

Which fork opening does an Mtrack motorcycle pallet use?

Documented project openings are 175 x 75 mm, 188 x 89 mm and 200 x 69 mm, with center distance depending on the pallet truck. A club project used a 200 x 69 mm opening at 820 mm center distance. The opening in your order is confirmed in the drawing against your own forklift.

Can a pallet truck lift a loaded motorcycle pallet?

Yes, if the base is raised for entry clearance. In the 500 kg review, the base was raised by 1 inch and approximately 3.75 inches of clearance was measured under the frame. Confirm your pallet truck's entry roller height and the loaded weight before relying on this arrangement.

Can the rack be made narrow enough for four-way entry?

Yes, with a compromise on width. In the freight project (15575), the overall width was reduced to 750 mm to leave approximately 150 mm fork channel per side for side entry. Check the resulting platform against your longest and widest motorcycle before releasing this variant.

Is there a standard load capacity for this rack?

No. Documented project load capacities are 250 kg, 350 kg and 500 kg depending on the version, and the working load is specified in the released drawing. Tell us the motorcycle weight and the handling procedure, and the base, posts and interface will be dimensioned together.

Send your forklift, receive the interface drawing

The fastest way to complete this is: send us forklift make and model, measured fork thickness, width and spacing, the entry dimensions of your pallet truck if you use one, and how the loaded pallet is rotated at the trailer or container. With these inputs, fork openings, center spacing, base height and entry direction are drawn together with the motorcycle cover, and you will receive a pallet you can check against your own pallet truck before production. The full configuration pallet can be found on the Folding motorcycle pallet rack page.
